Remembering 9/11

Today was the day. A day where a tragedy hit all the way to ground zero and shocked both the nation and the entire world. It was a day of heartbreak, confusion, toil, desolation and anger.

There was so much anger from the other side of the world. Anger that caused two famous, iconic, 110-story buildings known as The Twin Towers to collapsed to their feet. Anger that took nearly four thousand lives of people from their families and friends. Anger that brought war and economic recession to the country. How can someone have so much hate towards a country and cause such tragedy?

From where I came from, this country was considered the land of opportunity. And without a doubt it is. A good deal of hard work pays off at the end of the day. Though coming here was not that all easy. After the tragedy, the country’s security was tightened up to its bones. I had to go through several background checks during my application. Criminal backgrounds check, so to speak. It has become consistent as I work my way through acquiring my citizenship. Not to mention criminal check when applying for a job particularly in big corporations.

All in all, I’m proud and grateful to be in this country. It has offered me boundless chance to live my life to the fullest. And this I say, thank you to the men and women who served and risked their lives in keeping the country’s peace.

So, where were you that day?
